After checking the catlytic converter it appears ok, however i noticed that the hissing noise from the right side of the engine occurs when the vehicle is placed in gear. no hissing in park and neutral. a check of the trans fluid indicated a half a quart low. how do i check to the transmission to see if it is slipping? Thanks Talip

If trans, you would get engine windup with no increase of speed or rough or no shifts. Is idle smooth??? when you mash down on accelerator in park, do you get instant wind up?? Is there a stutter??

CHECK THE MODULATOR VALVE VACUUM LINE OR CHECK THE VACUUM TEE ON THE BACK OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR VACUUM LINES THAT MAY HAVE COME DISCONNECTED. VACUUM LEAKS OF SUCH WILL CAUSE MOTOR TO HAVE POWER LOSS.

You should be able to tell when driving it won't shift but the hissing might be exhaust
