Can you replace a 440-3 with a 440 engine? Ryan 11-1-09
I have a 77 winnebago with a 440-3 engine. it is cheaper to buy a new rebuilt engine (440) then to have this existing one repaired. anyone know if i can exchange a 440 for a 440-3 in my winnie? would be so much easier to find parts. ps, i don't plan to tow anything (25')

440 is close but not the same as the 440-3 The -3 is a lower reving, better fuel economy truck engine. The straight 440 is a car engine and will not survive the stress as well. The intake, distributor, and maybe flexplate and tran etc will not swap onto the straight 440. It wouldprobably be better to fix what you have. Good Luck
