Motorhome engine removal Ken W. 10-25-08
I have an '85 Chevy class C motorhome with a 350. I am looking for information on how to remove the engine to swap out for another. What is the best direction to take it out from?

The front is usually the best.
You will need to remove the hood, grill, rad, trans coolers, air con rads, generally anything in front of the motor.
Also stripping down the motor to a long block without any ancileries really helps with clearance to get the engine hoist boom in there, along with disconnecting the trans from the motor.
If you can, remove both seats as this really helps with removing the tunnel cover and getting access to the motor while lying on the cab floor of the MH.
Make sure you cover up any carpet or other nice stuff as this will be a very dirty job.
Do a google search on the Chevy 1 ton vans as this is quite common.
