Pace arrow 454 p-30 chassis Bill 10-5-08
My 1989 pace arrow can barely make it up a hill. It's sluggish. I think it's either the smog, vacuum system. Can you help or direct me to where I can get a manual for the engine.

First off----change the fuel filter--
have you changed the Rotor and cap---possible arcing inside--maybe even bad wires--have the timing checked---with Vacuum line plugged--so you get the correct setting use # 5 plug wire---easier to see mark.
if your Pace has very high mileage---you might need timing Chain and gears replaced---
I seriously doubt smog system is causing any of your problems--

I have 4-1/2 lbs of fuel pressure at the carborator. I feel it is the vacuum lines. I replaced intake manifold gasket due to vacuum leaks and vacuum hoses are disconnected - I do not know how to reconnect the hoses so I need help with where they go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There should be / have been an imissions lable either on the top of the air cleaner housing or on the side of it showing the vacuum routing. if you have a local library find an old chilton or motors truck repair manual, look up for the 7.4 engine in a P-30 van truck, they sometimes have general vacuum diagrams in it that may be close to your engine

I ama trying to locate the water pump on my 199940 Pacearrow with a Chev 454 engine. The P-30 engine compartment is a tight fit.

Do you have a vistual illustation that would allow a view of where it is located. I am not sure ahout this Pacearrow even though I have prelaced water pumps, etc in other cars.

Thanks in advance for would otherwise appear s stupid questions.

I have a (new to me) 1989 sunflyer. the first time out it died on every hill in town. I waited and let it idle and it e\went good for about a half block (until the carb bowl went dry).
I replace the engine fuel pump, carb filter and in-line filter (about half way back with 1/2" line in and out. It seemd fixed for the first 100 miloes then did the same thing. I put an electric in line fuel pump on it and it didn't help. I was 200 miles from home. Finally, I thought about the third line on the fuel pump. It is a return line to the tank. I pinched it off and drove home fine.
I am sure I have a problem with the tank fuel pume, component or filter sock. But, I wanted to say what I did in a pinch.
