I have a Ford 460 motor in my camper. It doesn't like to start. It either kills the battery first or floods before I can get it to start. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should start?

I just replaced the Holley carb on my 1984 NuWa Ford 460 with an Edlebrock carb. Starts and runs great now (no better mileage though). Edlebrock makes all the parts and pieces to adapt to the Ford engine. About $400 total.
