1982 ford jayco 460 wont start/no fuel jason ray 5-5-08  
1982 Ford Jayco Motorhome with 460 engine, ran fine last fall, when parked. Had low fuel when parked, have since added about 1/4 tank front and rear, wont fire.

fires if i put fuel into the carb

did have a problem wit squirres packing nuts in the engine compartment over the winter, but have all that cleaned up now.

am i poss miossing a wire that they may have chewed thru? please help!!

If it is pumping fuel from the pump it sounds like the carb is all gummed up with dried fuel. Need to tear it down and clean it. Mind you it could be a stuck float. Take a medium sized screw driver with a wood or plastic handle and rap on the bowl half a dozen times and see if fuel gets in then. Also the carb will have a vent tube pointing up out inside the air cleaner. Poor some fuel in there and see if it will run on the fuel in that you put in the float bowl. Good Luck

Check the fuse to the ECM my 83 had an electric pump powered from the ecu fuse
mine would start if fuel poured in carb but would not stay running
