1979 Dodge Motor home by Jerry
Post New Message I have a 1979 Dodge Concord motor home. I have been having a hard time finding an intake manifold gasket for it. Here is some information I got from Dave in the Champion Fleet Owners web site.
In 1978, Chrysler was going into bankrupt fast, so the government stepped in to save them. Dodge stopped producing the last 440-3 engine in 1979. This left them with no motor for the Dodge motor home chassis. At the time, Dodge was developing a new smaller motor for their motor homes. It was designated as the 360-3. It was the first year for the -3 on the 360. The other motor they offered was the 446 Chrysler Supertorque. It was made by International Harvester for Dodge. It was based on the MV-446 IHC engine used in school buses and large delivery trucks from 1972-1982. The 446 and the 440 are just about matched engines. The 446 has a little more torque, but the 440 has more horsepower.
Hope this info is helpful.
