The coil is good and getting power. To check: Pull the cap and see if the rotor goes round and round. if it does check continuity accross the pickup. There is a spec for resistance but I can't rember it. if good check the wiring from the pickup to the module. If it checks good check the ground on the module (probably good from your symptoms) then replace the module. Quick check of coil if you ever need to do one is to get your 12 volt test light and hook it to the coil and ground. Roll the engine over and it will flash on one side of the coil or the other.
