I replaced the wires to the alternator, chokeheater, and so on from the regulator. the alternator works, just isnt puting out any voltage. amperage is fine. can anyone help? if so thank you VERY much. PaulG.

I am sorry but the info provided dosn't make sense. If the alternator will produce measurable amperage by definition it will make voltage. Can you provide the following test data: Key off not running battery voltage. Running voltage (raise rpm to 1500 to 2000 rpm) alternator amperage out put at the same time. Voltage at the battery terminal(output) on the alternater. Voltage at the battery terminal on the regulator. Field voltage at the regulator. Field voltage at the alternator. And finally ignition or switch voltage at the regulator running. You also need to check the grounds from alternator to block, block to chassis, chassis to regulator. That should tell us where the problem is. Good Luck
