87 32ft gulfstream 454eng,new altinator and engine battery,2 house batterys r dead and the ingnition fuse was blown,i would start the rv run it 15 minutes use my idiot light to chech for charging issues which where all weak or bad,turn off the rv and the engine battery would be dead,so i cleaned all connections replaced the fuse and disconnected the red wire from the battery isoltor to the 2 dead house batterys but left the other red wires which i think go to electric charging/30 amp plug in/and it seems everything is charging now,i think,there r a couple of 4 bolt tube solinoids,and 1 battery isolator how do i tell if these r bad???and also would the solinoid on the starter screw things up???help???

I think the first thing is to charge the house batteries. If they are dead they could easily draw in ecess of a hundred amps off the chassis. This will blow the breaker or fuse and over stress your alternator. Second need to check to see if you have a short to ground through the wires you diconeted. We should also detirmine how the batteries went dead. If the unit sat for a month with the batteries on that would do it, If it has a short that is also the other problem, we need to find this. Some units require that the batteries be charged from an external additional charger when multiple batteries are installed. Good Luck

I just bought a 1973 winnebego indian and the battery won't charge. the battery alternater and voltage regulator have all been replaced. I jump start the rv and it drains the battery down to nothing then it won't start again unless I jump it again or use the rear battery to start it. that battery has juice though I'm mot sure where it came from. is there can u help me? I know NOTHING about rv's.
