Onan Cranks JOhnny 1-19-08  
Onan Microquiet 4000 was running fine yesterday then stopped suddenly; it sounded like it was out of gas, but tank is full.

It seems to run (a little weakly) as long as I hold the start switch down, but dies as soon as I let go.

Also, sometimes as I'm holding the start switch the generator will knock really hard and sometimes stop at that point.

Any help is appreciated; I'm only 1 week into a 3 week trip with friends!!!

Had that same problem with my older onan turned out to be a bad fuel pump remove the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb then crank over the gen set to see if it's pumping fuel if not check for blocked fuel filter or clogged fuel line if lines and filter are clear then it's a bad fuel pump

4000 gas mirco quiet genset will run but runs rough. ran carb cleaner runs alittle thens quits any help would be appricated
