Furnace "pops" upon ignition	ben	1-17-08
I have an NT-34L suburban furnace. It pops every time the ignitor lites it. i have cleaned blowers and burner, replaced the burner access gasket, still pops. It will also pop if you let it run. flame is blue, sits right on the burner. very little orange/yellow above burner. pop actually sounds like a detonation.

It sounds like the heat exchanger is stopped up not letting the combustion air flow through to the exhaust. If you do not have mud dauber screens on the outlet, I would suspect that the little critters dirt nest is obstructing the flow.

When hot water heater ignites sometimes,it seems to have a build up of gas and when it ignites causes a popping noise?
