My RV trips a GFCI on a pedestal in State Park Martin 9-25-07
I recently discovered that motorhome will trip any outlet that has a GFCI installed. I camped at Rock Cut State Park in Illinois and they have added GFCI to their pedestals, both 30amp and 20amp outlets.

My motorhome does function fine on any outlet that does not have GFCI. For some reason it trips the breaker when plug into them.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can resolve this?

Thanks,
Martin

Start by turning off main circuit breaker, plug in and see if GFI trips. If it does you may have a problem in the panel. If no trips on plug in start turning on one breaker at a time and see if any one of the breakers trips the GFI. It may be something plugged into the circuit that trips it. How old is the rig? Sometimes it may show up in the inverter. Good Luck and it may be something real simple. MIKE

Good advice from Mike. Common causes include hot water heater 110v element, Fridge element, inverters that work fine but still cause this, TVs, VCRs, etc basicly any 110 volt appliance including the microwave and coffee pot. The comonest one in our shop is the hot water heater element. test by disconecting/throwing breaker. Good Luck
