I am trying to locate the harness, which I am told is under the dash somewhere. I have the HD trailering equipment package, which states there is a plug/connector in the instrument panel wiring harness to connect to an after market brake controller. I nor anyone I talked with while at the dealer could actually point to the harness under the dash. One person said the red wire with a black stripe that is rolled up and taped to the outside of a harness UNDER THE HOOD needed to be hooked up, but you still need to hook up the controller to the harness under the dash somewhere. Before I buy the brake controller I need to know what connection is under the dash. I do not want to cut/splice into wires if there is a harness available for this. Any help will be appreciated! John
The Harness shouldnot be hooked up if it has never been installed. Mine was in the glove box. The hook up is in a little box under the dash on the left side of the truck. There is a cover with a nut locking system that you will have to remove in order to plug it in. There is only one place that you can plug the harness into so that is fairly easy. I hope this helps.
John,
Trying to connect my brake controller on my new '07 Silverado. Really don't want to run all new wires or misconnect into the existing harness.
I have the 2500hd model with towing pkg so I know there's got to be a factory connection here somewhere.
saw this blog site. where did you find the connection?
