Trailer brakes	Marti	9-10-07
I have a 2000 tundra 4x4. I had a failure with the trailer brakes which resulted in replacement of a control box in the tail light. Proir to the repair I had no brakes and no lights on the trailer. After the repairof course it all functioned. how ever now I have no brakes again. The fuse on the brake controller keeps blowing. Is there a way to wire this component to by pass the control box in the tail light o9r is there a aftermarket part to solve this problem? I have brake and running lights but no electronic brakes. I would really appreciate you help Marti

I don't see where it says the trailer is pluged in or not if the fuse only blows while the trailer is pluged in fix the brake wiring and or magnets. If it is blowing the brake control fuse somthing is shorted on the truck. Unfortunatly I haven't worked on a tundra and don't know how the fuse is set up. Is it a single fuse for charge line and controler or are they sepaerate? Blowing a fuse is a short or failed component. I would doubt the brake control and charge line are run through the the magic combiner box on the truck due to the added exspense to the manufacturer for no improvment in operation. You need to unplug the brake control and and see if the fuse survives. if it doese trace the short from there. I know that this is basic trouble shooting but it didn't seem anyone else was going to answer you. Good Luck
