A/C circuit breaker trips Dan 9-4-07
I have a strange one - when at home I'm plugged in to a 30 amp circuit and all works well. Occasionally I go out to a friends and connect to 20 amp service. When I do, my A/C will not run, it trips the RV's A/C circuit. I would have thought it would trip the house's 20 amp circuit if I was drawing too much juice. I'm thinking of putting a 30 amp circuit in my friends house (we go to college football parties there, so its better to bring the RV than to drink and drive!) to solve the problem, but I still can't help but think it should be the house breaker thats tripping not my trailers A/C breaker. Ideas?

Your problem is called a brown out. Due to the power supply on the circuit or the size (Measured in Guage 10 Guage prefered)of the cord the trailer is plugged into so the voltage drops, in an AC motor this causes the motor to draw more amprage. Most AC roof tops draw a momentary (less than a second)22 amps at start on a hot day add all this together and the breake pops.
