Have lestek 105 amp with external voltage reg. Had it rebuilt twice, and it just quit again, the very next day. Everything is hooked up propely. Is their anything I should double check prior to bringing it back to rebuilder? Any ideas what could be causing this? When I put it on for the second time it was charging, i put the meter on it. It was also charging the first time it was rebuilt. The first time they said all the diodes were burnt up, this time I believe they said the regulator was bad. Any ideas??? It is on an 87 vogue motorhome with an 8.2 detriot with new batteries.
Thanks
Hoo boy. Bad regulator kills alternator. Common problem on some units. failure as follows: Regulator fails in full field thus running the alternator as hard as it will go. It over heats and dies very quickly. Unfortunatly you wouldnt notice unless you have an amperage out put guage wired to the alternator. So they may be correct I personally replace alternators and regulators as a set after I had to warranty 2 $2000 alternators for this failure in one month.
