Battery Dale W 6-28-01
When I have the motorhome(1978 Travelcraft) connected to house current the batteries drain. Why? Only takes 1-2 days to happen. Then I have to re-charge the batteries in order to get started again.

Most likely your battery isolator has failed. Locate the large red wire coming off your alternator and trace it to see if it goes to a unit with cooling fins and two other large wires connected to it. That is the isolator. What it does is keep the coach and chassis batteries seperate from each other, but allows the alternator to charge all of them when the engine is running. It's easily checked by disconnecting the ground cable on the coach batteries. If you still have 12 volt power in the coach, then, (assuming someone hasn't mis-wired your rig), it's a safe bet the isolator is defective, it can be checked for continuity with a multimeter.
