Electronic battery disconnect switch steve 9-3-03
My engine battery switch will not shut the battery off when its hot, after driving for 15 minutes or more. The motorhome needs to sit about 2 hours before it will shut off. The solenoid has been replaced, also the battery and battery cables have been replaced. I usually have to disconnect the negative cable from the battery to get my tv and door step to work when camping due to this problem.any sugestions?

Steve, what you say sounds like the solenoid sticks when it's hot but you said it was replaced. Here's something to try and since you say the coach has to sit for 2 hours before it works again, you have plenty of time.

Disconnect the battery and test for continuity at the two large terminals of the solenoid. If it is stuck shut you should read about zero ohms. If that's true replace it. If the solenoid switch opens when the battery is disconnected, connect the battery and see if the solenoid has 12v at the coil terminals. If so, there's a short somewhere, assuming the switch is off.

Very mysterious.
