Hello -
I have a Kwikee single step that will not open..or open very sporadically...unless the key is in the ignition and the ignition is on, it will open fast and fine when the engine is running or the ignition is on but is sporadic on the battery only or when the rig is hooked up to 110.
Could this be a control box problem, or would a ground be suspect?
I can get my step to work. It is know down. I hear what sounds like a electrical device making contact but no movement. The steps are
on a 2005 diesel Bounder. We are in Mesa, AZ. Denny
You say it works fine with the ignition on but sporadic when not. I would first check all wires & fuses for any corrosion or breaks then check that you are getting 12V to the steps ont just power but 12V, there is separate wires for power in ignition on & ignition off. If that don't fix it then call Kwikee they are very helpful
You might check your connections between Kwikee harness and m/h harness.Had the same problem last year.I done everything. Finally Started checking connections, peices started falling off in my hands.I put them all back together, made sure it worked and then Covered connections with plenty 3M elec tape.GL
On the their website, there is diagram, trouble shooting chart, everything to find the problem.

I suspect a bad connection at the switch or bad ground.
