1985 Honey wiring JIm 9-2-16  
I was given a 1985 Honey class a 27' RV. The took out one battery and only had one connected to start and run house. I am putting a second battery deep cycle to run the house. In trying to figure out how to separate house from starting thru the 2 isolators in the engine department I found on the isolator that the middle connection on the isolator runs to the ignition switch which is spliced into a pink line that I have traced to the distributor. In doing voltage check whenever the batter is connected power is supplied to the distributor because of this splice at the ignition switch. I am questioning this splice and think it should be getting power somewhere else that is activated by the ignition switch(ie empty spot on fuse block). Does this sound correct?

Not sure what terminal the center one is.

Most of these isolators have to have the ignition and on some accessory feed by-passing the isolator so the starter will work and alternator will start charging on start up.

I hope that's the back ground you need on that.

The isolator will have a charge terminal, a aux batt terminal and a Chassis battery terminal,many systems have 2 isolators wired in parrallel to handle the amperage loads provided by the alternator.

If some one has by passed them to power the house off the start the isolators may have failed or they may just need to be wired back together correctly

That is what I thought. But when the battery is connected to the larger terminal I have voltage running thru the middle(smaller terminal) to the ignition switch without the key in the on position which from my testing runs to the distributor. That is what seems very strange to me. Sorry I am a newbie to the rving world and trying to figure this out as I correct he problem.
