|About the time your chassis was built the GM enginers came up with a silly system.|
The speedo sender sends so many pulses per mile to a device called a DRAK (I may be missspelling this) the Drak sends the computer info to three locations, Maybe four depending on what cruise control system is on your unit. Engine computor, Trans computor, Cruse Control and Speedo. It allowed the GM engineers to use any pulse per mile number and synewave or Square wave pulse as they liked. In otherwords, its anoying, Stupid and trouble prone.
On Pickup the Drak is mounted behind the glove compartment. Its just a small electronic box screwed to a bracket.
Anyway your speedo gets its info from there. If your cruise control works, The trans shifts correctly etc your problem is between the Drak and the speedo. Or lord help you The Drak is bad.
If the Drak is bad,. By a used GPS and leave it set on the speedo display position.
