Need to change Ford ignition switch. How do you get the old one out?

Why do you need to change switch??? I believe all contacts are below switch..follow wiring down steering shaft..should find contacts...switch hard to explain uses shaft conected to switch. Need to change Ford ignition switch. How do you get the old one out?

I just did mine... on the sterring wheel post the ing key works a shaft that runs down the post to the back side of the post (by the break petal) mine took a 7/16 wrench to remove it i bought the part from advanced auto parts it's a little tricky to get to and get the plug off.... so take your time and do it early in the morring it gets real hot where i live. this is a job that take pacients to do....good luck mike bush......PS feel free to ask me questions i'm rewiring a El Drado on john deer frame much like oskosh
