Battery isolator, either mechanical/electric, or solid state, is defective, replace.

my isolator looks like an old ford cellinoid. Would that be mechanical or electrical? and is one better than the other?
Again thaks so much!

Bob, that'd be a mechanical type. It's rated "constant duty" because it has a metal housing to dissipate the heat it generates. These are pretty bullet proof, and seldom fail. When they do fail, it's usually the activation coil. Make sure that it didn't fail and someone just put a jumper cable around it, or hooked both the coach and chassis battery cables together on one of it's large studs. In other words, make sure there isn't any connection between the two batteries except through that isolater that's controlled by the ignition key.
