1989 Fleetwood Southwind Electrical Problom Jim Mattingly 5-28-08
I just bought a 1989 Fleetwood Southwind. I drove it back from Pheonix, Az and everything worked perfect. I did not have one problom. When I got home my son showed me how to take the face plate off of the stereo. I put it back on and it has not worked since and also my T.V. and my steps are not working either. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. One thing I start my generator and my T.V. will work, but still not my stereo, or my steps. Could this be from a fuse that I have not checked or missed, or my electrical conversion panel? I am stumped. Any ideas will help and I will be grateful for.
Thank You,
Jim M.

My guess is that you somehow blew a fuse, although it is unusuall to have the step on the same circut as the tv and stereo. I would not blame the kid, tempting as it might be, cause if it was going to blow it is better to blow it at home than on the road. Look first for your chassis fuse panel up under the dash left side and the chassis manual should indicate the radio fuse position. If it is not a fuse check your battery ground cables.

My 1989 Southwind lost power to the Air Conditioner last night when it was plugged in to RV receptical. It works on the generator but not thru 120 ac
receptical. The generator and power cord run thru 2 seperate conduits up into the coach but I can't find where they go to inside. There's a 120v switch in the cupboard along with a front and rear ac unit selector switch but ther is no power coming in unless the generator is running. where is the switch box that changes from rv plug to generator?
1989 southwind 454 have a fuel leak paul 8-9-08
The fuel leak is coming from some kind of a pressure valve on the side of fuel tank, between the engine and the fuel tank it only leaks when the veh is running, Does anyone know the name of this valve? and where I can get one?

I am helping a friend with a 1989 Southwind motorhome. We need a wiring diagram of the 110 volt system. Specifically we need to know how to wire the switches that change the ac units from gen power to shore power. These "either/or" switches were replaced incorrectly at sometime in the past. Thanmks for any help anyone can provide.

I just went thru a bunch of electrical issues with my 89 fleetwood southwind. If you call fleetwood directly, and go thru their parts department the will E-mail you a copy of the complete 12 volt and 110 Wiring diagrams. very friendly and very helpful.

When I try to start my Rig all I get is a clicking sound from two areas one in the and one under the hood on the fire wall. The clicking does not stop until I remove the key. I think it is a relay. The one under the hood looks kike a old starter relay. at time we play with the cutoff switches above the door and I can get it to start.

Re: 1989 southwind 454 have a fuel leak jerry manion 5-27-09
I believe they call the valve something like (pressure valve) it holds the gas in the line so it does not flow back into the fuel tank. The diaphram must be letting the gas leak by and it escapes out a small hole in the cap that covers the diaghram. It looks like the cover was manufactored to let the system breath.
Re: 1989 Fleetwood Southwind Electrical Problom Karl 11-8-12
This message is to Rick dated 10-6-12 about no start Southwind but playing with battery switches above door, vehicle starts. This happened to me in my '89 33' Southwind this summer, I was pulling into the park, hit a bump and it went electrically DEAD! Nothing, nada, zip. When I toggled the main battery switch above the door I had power again. It turned out to be the battery isolator solenoid in the main electrical relay center under the hood. Hope this helps.
