The last time we went camping we paid a little extra to be able to use the electicity and water hookups. I simply plugged an extension cord from the hookup to the RV and was able to use all the lights and extensions...very cool. When we went home we were cleaning out the RV and noticed that the lights that run on the marine battery did not work along w/the water pump.
I took the RV to Sears thinking that the marine batter was dead but when they hooked it up to the battery tester it was in good shape.
The RV is built on a 1983 Chevy Van platform so I checked all the fuses underneath the stearing wheel and they all looked good along w/the contacts on the marine battery.
I'm sure I was suppose to do something prior to hooking up the power but wanted to find out if anyone had any ideas as to why I do not have power from the marine battery? Any idea on repair estimates?
You may have a transfer switch problem. I can't remeber when the current style of converter became popular but the old style has a relay inside that switches the converter power supply on or conects the unit to battery power when you are not pluged in. I have seen these go bad quite frequently, The other problem could be a blown or failed breaker in the trailer wiring. This is not where the other fuses are that you have already checked. Start by following the wires from your battery to find them. If you converter guts have gone bad they may be repairable but it would probably be easier and more reliable to pay the 2 or 300 to upgrade to a current type converter. Good Luck
