I am having a problem that appears to be ABS related when towing my 5th wheel. On wet blacktop, just before I come to a complete stop, the ABS system kicks in on my left frontwheel. the mechanic thinks it might be caused by my front tires having 30 % tread left and are different tread than the rear tires which are newer and have 80% tread. I think it is an ABS sensor problem but I can't get any diagnostic readings. (See my posting under electrical forum)
Anyone have any ideas?
IF YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY READINGS THE ABS IS MOST LIKELY WORKING. FOR SOME REASON THAT BRAKE IS LOCKING(ROUGH ROTOR,AIR IN THE OTHER WHEEL CYL.,ETC)BEFORE THE OTHER BRAKES. ABS THEN KICKS IN TO KEEP THAT WHEEL FROM SKIDING. RICH
Is you 5 er hitch actually centered in the truck bed--?
is your 5 er leaning to the curb side-?
how much crown is on the road you were on--?
abs might be sincing the least grip-giving you a slight lock up feeling.due to less weight-on that wheel.
just a guess-
