Have a 98 chevy p30 5.7 stepvan I just bought and the brakes stick. Meaning I was moving it in my driveway and pushed the brakes and the pedal stayed down and the truck wouldn't move so they were definitly on. I can take my foot and pull the brake pedal up and they disengage. looks like the brakes are run off of the power steering. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? please let me know.
Your pedal needs a shot of WD-40 and possiblly the flex hoses from the frame to the calipers are bad---causing the fluid to NOT return to the master cyl
Have you bled the old fluid any
do the pedal first--might be binding

I did spray my pedal linkage with wd40 and it didn't help. I just bought this thing with a bad engine and am in the process of replacing the engine right now. Do you think bleeding will help? I have worked on alot of car brake systems before but not a ton truck thats brakes are driven off the power steering. anyone else have any suggestions please let me know it would be appreciated. it should be up and running sometime next week depending on how much time I have to finish the engine swap. thanks in advance.
If you have to pull the brake pedal back---it's binding-
maybe even the master cylinder is sticking
but i would go with the brake flex hoses are bad--I have a 98 as well and I have had to replace mine---

Ok, sounds like good advice. do you or anyone else have any good links for service manuels for the 98 p30? I can't really find much other than order the factory gm manuels which is 4 different volumes that cost a lot. I would like more info on this braking sysytem and drivetrain in general.
