I have a 38foot 5th wheel. It has 3 axles and 12" brakes on all. The brakes had a short and I think it was a magnet. I replaced the assembly of the suspect magnet and no problem since.
The brakes seem to work fine now but are only requiring 4-5 volts to lock up and operate around 1.5 to 2 when slowing gradually. Is that normal or is there still a problem?
The brake voltage or draw is dependent on many things including the weight of the trailer. As long as the brakes are predictable and don't lock unexspectedly they are working correctly. The trailers I work with every day have diffrent reactions to difrent controlers and trucks and weights and brakes sizes and on and on. The brakes sound as if they work very well. Good luck
Brakes not grabbing as they should. replaced shoes and had drums resurfaced. getting 10 volts all the way on all four magnets. adjusted up to even a tight drag on brakes and it is still not braking hard enough to stop a rolling speed. can you help me? I have done all i know to do.thanks Bob
