Grumman rv vac assist problems mike williams 7-9-06
I have a 1973 grumman motorhome and after driveing it for about 2 miles the brakes lock up and stay on all the calipers have been replaced what could be the problem?
Re: grumman rv vac assist problems mike williams 7-10-06
I pupmed the brake peddel and they locked up so i opened the bleader and it had a lot of pressure. would it be the hosees? the hoses are old and starting to crack,it might be a good idea to change them anyway.

What chassis is it on.? Sometimes the hoses get old and start coming apart inside. This plugs up the fluid return and drags the pads that get hot and heats up the fluid that expands and locks up the brakes. Were the calipers lubed with caliper grease on the slides when replaced. If not may have one hanging up.Was the master cylinder removed or replaced.??If so take lid off of it and watch fluid as someone steps on pedal.Watch for a spurt of fluid up in the master cyl. If no spurt of fluid you may have push rod out of adjustment,If push rod is to far forward when replacing master cyl.it won't let piston return far enough to let fluid return to cyl. This will cause pressure on the pistons and start the heating process that locks up the wheels.I just finished my 86 Winnie last week for caliper draging and lock up. Good Luck and keep us posted it may help someone else. Mike

Yes a great idea, when you do it you can get new bleeder screws that have a check ball built into them.I think called Easy bleed or something like that.About 5 or 6 bucks each, just push on a short hose and bleed them easy.I got mine at Pep Boys but lots of stores have them.Just take one out and take it with you to get the right size thread. If the master cyl.was not removed it should't be the rod adjustment.A sticking caliper or a hose. When they start to drag before lock up feel the hubs and see if one is much hotter than the rest.Mine was front left.Don't know how hot you got them but if they were smoking better check grease in the hubs also, may have melted. One more idea it can be crud up in the master cyl. from a hose coming apart plugs up the return path.I think if you suck out old fluid from master cyl. then flush with new fluid after hose change you will be fine.Just check heat at hubs after short drive to see if its one wheel draging or all of them.On that older rig I would put on new hoses just for safety reasons. Good Luck Mike

I'm in big love with my boyfriend from Canada, already for a long time we have a dream to marry, but we cannot do it, because USA laws dont allow gay marriages :(
However, I was hearing in England people do gay marriages, but we dont have enough money for the tickets :(
Can you help us with a small penny to make our dream alive?
Thank you a lot!!!

Replace the flex hoses that go from the frame to the calipers
they generally cost 30+ $$ they collapse and hold fluid acting like a check valve---there are several that are close--depends on the actual system and year--be sure to replace the brass seals--look like washers--and yes replace the fluid DOT 3
your local parts place should be able to find the correct brake Hoses.

I have a 1973 Gruman RV that has been setting 2years. I got it started but, there are no brakes; but it had brakes the last time I drove it. I pushed the pedal and "nothing". I cannot find the master clynder to add brake fluid, it's not under hood! Can you help me locate it? Need help on how to bleed!! Last thing, the last time I had driven it, seemed like emergency brake was on, but it was NOT on, light smoke rolled out the back-end and when I let off throttle; it slowed quickly...it felt like the brakes were on or emergency brake was on. This is why I parked it! Can you help me with this problem?
Thanks Danny
