Have just purchased 1981 Allegro for 3 month trip before returning home to UK. Brakes are scarily non-existent! Where is the best place to sort out brakes? I presume normal car brake-shops wouldn't carry pads etc.We are in Metro Atlanta area. Would truck gargae be a better bet? Grateful for any advice.

Ineed to know where to get a left front brake line hose for left front wheel for my 1997 SAFARI TREK class A motorhome. It is a P-30 chasis probaly a 1996, VIN # 1GBKP37J3V3306348. The brakeline is approx. 32" long with 21" of hose and 11" of steel tubeing, or can you tell me how to repair it or get it repaird? It has a hole rubbed in it 1" from where the hose is pressed on to the steel tubing.

The place you will have to go is a truck repair center!I do not know about Atlanta but DC area has a lot of these shops that take care of Rv's and large trucks!Ohter outlet or more expensive is to take to Truck dealer that is GM or Ford(whichever your engine and chasis is on your allegro. Why do I loose or overheat my brakes on my 26 ft. rv when Im driving on mountain range or city driving MY rv braking are in good condition Thank You PS Im allways easy on my padal and sometime I used my gears depending on the road grade.

Go to: www.millsupply.com and search under the StepVan link there. All of our Class A chassis are trucks with extended wheelbases. Then look under brakes. They have it all: pads, rotors, drums, shoes, hoses, and hardware, etc. Also, steering and suspension parts and you name it. I got some of their pads, sway bar bushings and rebound bumpers for my '96 Pace and am very satisfied. Their prices are very reasonable compared to local dealers and fast delivery if it is in stock. I even found they had new taillight lenses for my MH! Explore what is there and pass the website on to others! They have stuff for all of the chassis makers and not just newer ones. Good luck! Jim E. Hi Howard; Do not try to repair the hose, there is a lot of pressure and heat at this hose, and you have a lot to loose if you don't have brakes. Take the hose to any Napa or heavy duty brake shop and they can match it for you, they may not have it in stock, but can surely order it for you. Good Luck Bill

Hi Ralph; If you have brakes that are dragging, they will get hot. Be sure that the brake pedal has a small amount of free play when the brake pedal is being held up by the return spring. If you can not feel the push rod that goes into the master cylinder free to move with finger pressure, then the rod is too tight and will not let the piston in the master cylinder return to it's proper place, when this happens pressure is maintained in the brake system causing your brakes to drag. If your rear brakes are drum type, jack up the rv and turn the wheel by hand, It should be free to turn, without heavy dragging on the brake shoes. If you have disc brakes on the front or rear, the pistons may be distorted due to overheating, then they will need to be replaced along with the caliper seals, and piston seals. Good Luck Bill
