If this is a late model Toyota you have ABS (anti lock brakes) and they will not allow the rears to lock up. Rear wheel lock is what cause loss of control and spins. Assuming that you have a good brake poedal and the vehicle stops good don't worry about it.
I have just been quoted $550 to replace front and rear brake pads on a 2002 Toyota Avalon. I am considering doing the job myself but it is some years since I did this. Has the job difficulty changed and are any special tools required?
