I bought a 2004 chevy avalanche and i took the kelsey brake controller out of my old truck and now i am not sure how to hook it up to my new truck. my new truck came with a pigtail to aid in the wiring of a brake controller but some of the colors dont mate up.

Have a mid 60's Kencraft 28 foot tandem axel trailer frame. Front axel hydraulic brake, rear axel electric. Need to know how to get brakes working. Trailer was in a fire and all wiring and hoses burnt. Have trailer brake in my truck with round 7 pin plug. Truck is a 94 Ford F250 turbo diesel. Any help or suggested parts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chuck

Johnny, That wiring for the 10958001 is right on target. I took my brake controller out of my 1996 Suburban and put it in my 2007 Chevy Silverado Pickup. If you match the wiring descriptions of the 10958001 with the wiring descriptions on the wiring harness that comes with the Silverado it works fine. The Silverado has one extra wire for a backlit light on the brake controller the the 10958001 does not need. I did not connect that wire. All is working great. Thanks

Controller ASSy NO. 10958001 Wiring code: Red - from Brake (lights) input +12 v when pedal is pressed White - Ground Black - +12v direct from battery make sure you have a 20 amp breaker or fuse in ckt Blue - to Trailer brakes + 12v

Hi, Bought a Bully brake controller for my 96 Ford Explorer to hook up on a kit companion travel trailer 20ft. lite. I need someones help to figure out how these wires are connected. I know some basic wiring not enough to hook the brake controller. (The main plug is mounted at the rear of the hitch but not connected.) the only connection done was to the stock light plug harness for turn and stop lights. (Need your Help! Thanks.)

I have a 1978 Surburban and need the wiring diagram for the brake controler. I have everything hooked up so it works, but the controller is always in standby mode and the battery gets discharged. the hydraulics works fine so I lknow that it has to be the wiring for the two red leads and the person who installed it to replace the prior controller of the same type did not connect them the way the old one was. This is an older system that connects to the master cylinder so that it is progressive and applies power in proportion to the brake pedal. I prefer to keep this as I travel with my trailer considerably and like the system immensly.

I am re wiring a KH electric controller that has a blue, red and black wires. I know the blue wire connects to the blue brake wire on the receptacle. The receptacle says the red wire is to be connected to a fused power source. Is the red wire from the controller to be connected to the power source as well? The black wire is connected to some sort of fuse mounted on the fender well. Need wiring diagram or help please.

I have a 2008 Duramax. The Kelsey I pulled out of my 04 chev doen't line up with the 08 plug. The Chev parts dealer says the trailer wires are rolled up under the dash and just need to be spliced into my controler. Where is the hook up? Is there a plug in, wires rolled up or does Kelsey have the right controler that simply plugs in?

Thanx Johnny (7/24/06) the only post here that makes sense I think. lol If you all are looking for a kelsey brake controller wiring set up look on the back at the controller assy no. 10958001 yer wiring is as posted by Johnny,to recap red-12v+ from the brake light switch (hot when you hit the brakes) white-ground black-12v+ direct from battery with inline 20 amp breaker or fuse blue-to trailer brakes input 12v+ that should work on any vehicle that has brake lights,(hint, on an older ford p-up, the brake light is a switch right on the pedal,thats yer red wire)

I have a 1976 f-250 with a hydraulic brake fluid line from the master brake unit. I do not remember nor do I have a diagram of how to wire it back on. There are three wires and they are all black. Which one to the "hot" and which one to the 7 pin connector on the rear bumper? Where does the third wire go to? I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you, Frank

It appears that the "energize" is even better thanthe Teconsha. Althought the wiriing is the same/co;urs, the fact is, if you connect the 12vdc up on the Teconsha; ya still dont know if its gonna work, Cos it has to be connected to the trailer & brake. The Energize doesn't.. just for the simple bench test

I have a 1999 Chevy LS 1500 (old body Style) Pick Up. I am wanting to install an electric brake controller. I have been told that there is already a connector under the dash. I found one but it did not match the connector on the brake controller. Can you tell me what this connector is for it looks to be about 8-10 pins and 1" long. Right under left hand side of steering wheel. Thanks

I am installing a electric brake controller & the trailor connector on my 1999 GMC Yukon. There are 4 wires already mounted to the frame at the rear of the Yukon. green,brown,yellow,light blue and a larger white wire. Can the white wire be used to connect the blue wire from the connector to the contoller & if so where in the front does this wire come out ator connected at, under the hood or under the dash?

Hi, I bought a new landcruiser back in 2003 and it came with a dealer installed tow package which I now find out did not include the underdash plug and harness. It does have a 7 pin on the hitch. Do you have any sugguestions on how to wire in trailor breaks?.....Please!!!!!

I too have a 07 Silverado. I have located the harness under the dash for the brake ocntroller, as well as the ends under the hood. Where do the underhood wires connect? They are labeled "aftermarket trailer brake controller". THX
