E350 Rear Brake Bias Jeffrey Miner 8-9-05
I'm not able to stop my 23' Coachmen Catalina with any significant degree of force without locking up the front tires. There's two contributing factors to this problem: 1) I upgraded the front brake pads to a Performance Friction carbon pads that generates more rotor torque and 2) I tow an open car trailer with virtually no tongue weight but use dual axle brakes. I can't transfer enough weight to the front wheels to capitalize on the new brake pads. How can I adjust my the rear brake bias to get my rear drums and dually wheels to work harder? Also, I don't understand how the rear brake bias circuit -- which is suspension height/load dependent -- can work properly when I have an air bag suspension that RAISES the ride height significantly when I add air to soften the ride. Any suggestions or ideas for mods are appreciated, this thing is now scary in the rain -- can't stop.
