P30 chassis emergency brake Dave Woodman 2-2-05
I have a Pace Arrow 1996 on P30 chassis. I find it has a emergency brake that i am not familiar with. Has a separate brake system for emergency and no transmission lock like my chevie 350 truck. Had a near tragedy when I put unit if park and stepped outside only to find my pace arrow rolling. Anybody have any problems with this setup.

It's the classic problem, all the fluid leaked out of the switch and the auto brake is locked up. Do you have the part numbers for the switches, pump etc. I am going to replace everything and buy two extra switches.

Thanks

I have a 1994 Fleetwood MH on a P30 chassis. The auto brake light stays on on the dash but the RV does move. My major problem is, I have to chalk the wheels evrywhere I go. I would like to fix this myself, but have no idea how it is suppose to work. Do you have any idea where I can get a set of schematics for this? How difficult is this system to work on? Any help would be great. Thank you in advance.

James

The automatic park will not release in reverse after the motorhome has been driven or gets hot? It will release in forward but not in reverse.
Thanks Martin

Temporarily getting around this problem is relatively simple. Just to the back of the transmission and on the drivers side of the vehicle the cables from the manual parking brake, the auto brake actuator and the brake drum(which is on the driveline right behind the trans)come together. Remove the pin connecting the auto park actuator cable to the arm assembly (if the unit is locked in auto park, it will be somewhat difficult because of spring tension but can be done.)Then, be sure to check the adjustment on the brake shoes. Test by engaging the manual parking brake and trying to move in forward and reverse. If it holds, you are in business and if not, it needs adjusting. To adjust, there are two slots on the back of the drum with dust clips in them. Remove the clips and move the MH so one of the slots is at the top. The adjuster is just a little off center toward the drivers side. Adjust for more brake shoe tension by rolling the adjuster up with a screwdriver or brake adjusting tool. (A medium size flatblade screwdriver with a v ground in the blade works best.) Just be sure to check again by moving the MH so you don't have too much drag on the shoes.

Re: emergency brake cable mark 10-11-06
I need to find out how to adjust the emergency brake cable on my 2002 chevy caviler
Re: P30 chassis auto brake Lynn Wilbur 9-5-06
If the brake is not holding and needs adjustment, don't adjust it at the actuator. The brake shoes should be adjusted at the drum on the driveline just behind the transmission. There are two slots in the drum and the adjuster is at app 11:30. Align one of the slots with adjuster and adjust like any wheel brakes. Just be aware that the shoes are installed on a concentric and if they are a little too tight, the brakes will lock up in reverse.

Re: P30 chassis auto brake lee 10-17-07
Remove the auto brake and use the foot parking brake. thats what we did. that auto brake has a bad rep. for failing.atleast with the foot parking brake you can control when it is applied. the auto brake comes on every time there is a problem. and locks down anywhere you may be.it is crap!!!anybody that works on these brake systems will tell you that it is a nitemare.
