Hydroboost Brakes Larry McCartney 1-10-04
I have a 1990 Southwind on an Oshkosh Chassis. The hydroboost brakes uses a Bendix unit with an electricaly operated backup pump and a seperate hydraulic pump to supply the brake boost and is not connected to the power steering's circuit.
It also operates the driveshaft parking brake. Everythink seems to be OK with the transmission in 'Park'. When shifting into reverse or drive, one of the hydraulic lines (a return line I think) from the parking brake begins to vibrate badly. While bleeding the parking brake I noticed the pressure is pulsating strongly. I'm afraid the vibrating hose will eventually break. Any help would be welcome. Thanks!

Re: Hydroboost Brakes Mark O. 1-20-04
If the vibrating continues while the rig is going down the road with the parking brake released, I would worry.

If it is vibrating only while the parking brake is applied while the rig is in gear, the vibrating would be expected.

I would venture a guess the vibration is being caused by the booster holding the brake tight as force is being exerted against it.

But if the vibration continues when the brake is released, you do have a problem. As to what that might be I don't have a clue at this point.

Good luck and happy trails.
