Dodge M500 Brake Light Switch John Coons 6-12-03
The brake light switch on my 73 Starcruiser has failed. I have the Dodge Chassis, and when I took the part to Napa they told me it is not available through them. They made the effort to call their info center and confirm that the number molded on the switch is indeed the part number. They said I would have to go to Dodge. I called a Dodge dealership and they told me the part is no longer available. The part number is 2824550. Anyone tell me where I can get a new one? Or should I start checking fields for abandoned 1970s motorhomes?

I never did find a source for a new switch. I ended up going down to the parts store and digging through the available switches and jiggering one that was close. Been working so far.

Thanks for the replies.

John

Can anyone tell me wher I can still get the so-called Dodge M500 Brake Light Switch, part #2824550, or a suitable replacement?

The original switch on my Pace Arrow Diesel Chassis built 11/93 last 8 years. I easily ordered a replacemnt in April 2002, but now I'm told that Dodge has 23 on back order, and no date of delivery is being specified.

Thanks-a-bunch,

I have a 75 M500 on my Superior, and I replaced the old brake light switch with one from a pu, I made a rubber bushing to go around switch, like a rubber hose, and I put a small hose clamp on each side of the mounting bracket, and to adjust it, I just loosen one of the clamps and slide switch,... ain't fancy, but works ok
