Brakebuddy for toad ray 8-19-02
Anyone have any experience with the brake buddy auxillary brake system for your towed vehcile? Seems the easiest to install since it is self contained and works off the momentum of the vehicle to apply brakes, but i wonder how effective it is.

I also wonder about this product. It sounds good in the advertisement and their attached endorsements but one wonders. Most adds that 'sound to good to be true' are.

The BrakeBuddy is very simple and easy to install and use. It is very effective for helping stop our Grand Cherokee toad on unexpected hard stops. The advertising is true. I have used mine for two years. Works great!

Jack,
Thanks for the reply. It seems so much simpler than all the others I was skeptical as to it's effectiveness. How is it anchored to the floor, or what keeps the system from moving when it applies brake pressure? Looks like from the drawings it just pressed against the seat, but that did not sound too secure.

Re: brakebuddy for toad jake 8-29-02
I have one and have used it on a Dodge raider and it worked great! The unit just sits on the floor and is pressed aginst the seat frame on appliaction. Only problem, when I installed it in my jeep wangler I had to make a bracket for the seat because the floor is not flat enough for the unit to sit on right in front of the seat.
Re: brakebuddy for toad Earl 12-11-02
Hi all New guy here. I'm thinking of getting a Toad braking system too. I know NOTHING about them yet. How does the 'Brake Buddy' function? How do other systems work? I've seen systems advertised for hydrolic brakes, but I assume that means having special hydrolic lines, wiring installed and 'Controllers' to calibrate and adjust. Am I right? These sound dangerous to me. I don't want to be hooking the coach hydrolic brake lines to a toad. If ya get a leak...lose all brakes?
Re: brakebuddy for toad buck 1-23-03
Earl,

The brakebuddy does not cut into any brake lines or require any modifications to the towed vehicle. It simply sits on the floor of the towed vehicle in front of the drivers seat, attaches to the brake pedal and plugs into the 12 volt power supply. The brakebuddy responds to the forward momentum of braking and pushes on the brake pedal of the car. I have owned the old syle brakebuddy and am now using the new plastic injection molded model now and have loved both of them.

good luck
