GMC Chassis Auto Brake Mike 8-15-10
We have a 1996 RV that engages the Auto Brake, particularly when you are on an incline. It happened a few times when we momentarily pulled off the interstate to switch drivers, putting the RV in park, only to find ourselves unable to disengage it, and scared to death, thinking we were in the middle of nowhere with our transmission failing. It eventally disengaged, and we were fine. What is recommended to remedy the problem, replacing switches, or sensors, etc., without compromising safety?
Thank you in advance for any advice!
Mike

1. check the (Dextron) oil in the (Auto-Park) tank--
2. if you see (pink-Dextron) has leaked More than Likely the (Green Switch ) is bad---the part#= 15961566.
DO NOT take the fitting it'd screwed into off// just the green switch and make sure the new one has a (O-Ring ) on it.replace the Dextron oil in the (Auto-Park) tank
(1) qt.. test a few times.
3.there is also a switch on some RV's in the brake rod assembly that will prevent from getting shift lever out of park-.

If your auto park brake actuator needs to be rebuilt, I highly recommend Jose Crespo at 305-215-8875 or email p30actuator@aol.com.

I just had mines rebuilt with him and it works great, and the turnaround was extremely quickly. I'm in Alaska, he's in South FL, and I got it back in just 3 days. Give him a ring and he'll provide you shipping removal and packaging instructions.

Have you check to see if the actuator is not leaking? The APB tends to lock-up if there is a leak in the actuator. We offer an actuator rebuilt service. Drop me an email or call me for additional information.

For feedback and/or references you may google search "auto park brake rebuilt Jose"
