Electric brakes Doug 6-1-10
How do I check the trailer brake system from start to finish? What's the ohm's on the magnets? I've got an equipment trailer that the brakes don't work at all, I would like to test every part. I'm getting tired of having 12000 lbs shoving me all over.

The brake magnets are rated at 3 ohms but as they are magnets intended to run at 12 volts they test @ about 1 ohm. in a group or each as they are wired in parellel.
They are suposed to draw about 3 amps each at 12 volts and this is how we test the system to see how many magnets are actually conected to wires.
If you see less that about 12 amps on a two axle trailer you have a problem.
Please note that all measurements are approximate. 13 amps or 11 amps does not mean there is a problem.
Good Luck
