Ford Motorhome F53 brake light indicator Model year 1999 SamS44 10-28-09
Ford Motorhome F53 brake light indicator Model year 1999.
The Parking Brake Indicator Lite on the Dash comes on while I'm driving.
I first noticed the problem when the Cruise Control was engaged and going up hill. Disengaging the CC turned off the light. Then Ford sent me a recall notice for the Brake Sensor/Cruise Control problem and Ford replaced the Switch on the Master Cylendar and a Wires connecting to it using a {recall) kit. Now the PB Indicator Dash Lite comes on when it excellerating uphill, flat ground, let up on the gas pedal and the lite goes out. Step on the gas and the lite comes back on, mind you not immedately. Added note the lite doen't come on until the coach has been driven for more then 1-2 hours. It doesn't seem to have to do with speed, more like being to do with excelleration. It happens at 40mph uphill and 70mph on the flats in Nevada. The brakes seem to be perfect stopping. Ford Dealer has looked into it with scope and computer readout show no errors, they have test driven it but not for any lenght of time.

So it is heat, time and slope/acceleration related. Cool. Three wild guesses: 1st and most likely the wire that grounds your warning light through the swtich has a bre spot or similar and after it warms up enough it will swing over far enough to contact a ground. If you have a park brake that will trigger it you need to check there as well. 2nd the switch has a bad detent and when the viscocity of the brake fluid drops again it will move over and operate the switch. Last and least likely: the park brake lever moves and triggers the light (if you have one) Good Luck
