RV Chevy P30 or P32 Auto Park Brake Actuator REBUILT SHOP Adam Smith 8-29-09
I found a great guy in South Florida (Miramar) that rebuilt my actuator for $400.00 and he shipped it back to me for free within 2 days of receiving it. My auto-park brake actuator was leaking oil and I couldn’t move the RV. I called a few dealers and they wanted $2100 to replace the actuator, and the RV had to be in their lot for about a week as they needed to special order the part from GM. While in the shop a nice guy gave me the telephone of someone that could rebuilt it for me for about $400, I called him and good enough, he provided instructions on how to remove the park brake actuator, I package it with lots of news paper and shipped it to him for about $15.00 and in less than 48 hours he shipped it back to me Priority Mail (free of charge). He requested I mark the actuator with my name, and good enough I received my own actuator back and it works excellent. I've had it installed now for about 6 month and it works like brand new. He gave me 1 year warranty. Give him a call, his name is Jose and his phone is 305-218-8875, if he is not available to take your call leave him a message and he will call you back as soon as possible.

I also like to add that my only 2 options were to send it to Jose Crespo (p30actuator@aol.com) to get it rebuilt for $400 in 5 days turnaround

or...

spend $987.00 plus $95.00 for shipping at the GM dealer and 15 to 20 days delivery as they had to special order the actuator.

Jose gave me the same 1 year warranty the dealer has.

With Jose I paid a total of $422.95 and I was back on the road in just 5 days and Jose paid for the return shipping via Priority Mail.

The local GM dealer wanted $1,082.00 plus $105.50 sales tax and I had to wait 15 to 20 days... are they crazy?

My Auto Park Brake doesn't work on my '97 Bounder motorhome. Mechanic says looks like it was activated and melted parts inside drum and wore out pads.Had to have a trucker block my wheels in NC at a rest area so we wouldn't roll into anything. Any thoughts on remedies to problem.

Jose rebuilts trucks A.P.B. actuators too, not just Rv's!

I highly recommend Jose Crespo and I'm not one to take the time to neither leave feedback nor recommend anyone. However Jose Crespo truly deserves to be recognized for the great job he performs and the superb customer service.

My delivery truck is my livelihood and couldn't be in the shop for weeks especially during this high delivery season. I called Jose, he promised me a turnaround of 24hrs, good enough I received the actuator in just 2 days. AWESOME! I gladly would have paid double to expedite the repair and delivery of the actuator… but no, he didn't charge me a penny over the $400.00… THANK YOU JOSE HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Re: RV Chevy P30 or P32 Auto Park Brake Actuator REBUILT SHOP Fern Davis 9-29-09
My motorhome has been out-of-commission for just over 6 months due to an oil leak in the auto parking brake actuator. I was pulling into a campsite; when I applied the brakes the auto parking brake locked up. No matter how much oil I put into the reservoir I couldn’t move the rv, as a result I had a very costly tow bill. I was told by an rv friend to replace the green and gray switches, I did, nothing would get it going… I then contacted a GM dealer and I was quoted for the actuator $980 plus tax and $107 shipping and delivery would have been 3 – 5 weeks as they had to special order. Can you imagine what they would have quoted me if I would have taken my rv for them to do the work. Searching online for a rebuilt shop I found this posting, and we are so glad we did! We send the actuator to Jose Crespo and good enough my actuator arrived just 4 days after he received it and we are glad to report that it works great. The minute we installed it; the auto park brake worked perfect. I highly recommend this guy!

Several years ago, I met a gentleman that advised me to service the auto park brake actuator every 5 to 10 years, to avoid costly expenses, and boy was he right! There is no worse feeling than being stranded when you are on vacation and the biggest problem is that I couldn’t find anybody knowledgeable enough to repair it. Another excellent tip is to always have on hand, spares of the green and gray switches; these two switches go bad quite frequently and when they do the auto park brake locks up.

I have the same problem with my motor home. I got stuck on the highway when I applied the brakes the auto park brake locked up and had to tow the rv home. You are absolutely correct Jack, I checked the switches and they are not the problem. My actuator does have a leak, this could be the problem. I will get my actuator fixed and will place a posting to let you all know how it went.

Thank you,

Re: RV Chevy P30 or P32 Auto Park Brake Actuator REBUILT SHOP Jack 9-1-09
Hey Adam; thank you for this posting!

Pulling into my driveway the auto park brake locked up when I put the brakes. I immediately assumed I had to replace the switches again, as they go bad quite frequently. While replacing the switches I noticed oil dripping from the actuator… called around and was told I needed to replace the auto park brake actuator. I was told at the dealer that when the actuator has a leak the system will lock up as it doesn’t hold pressure to disengage the auto park brake. If you are experiencing the same situation you may want to take a close inspection of the actuator also check to make sure the hydraulic oil reservoir it full. I’m glad to have found this posting, I emailed Jose Crespo at p30actuator@aol.com and he rebuilt my actuator last week. AWESOME SERVICE AND PRICE! The minute I installed it the auto park brake began to work immediately. I highly recommend this guy!

I too had my P30 Auto Park Brake Actuator REBUILT with Jose; great guy, very knowledgeable. I called him last Monday 8/24/09; he provided detailed information on how to package my actuator so it wouldn’t get damage during shipping. I sent it to him via USPS priority mail flat rate box ($13.95); he got it 2 days later, he shipped the actuator back to me the following day after he received it, and again 2 days to get back to me. It took no more that 5 days and my newly rebuilt actuator works like a charm. I highly recommend this guy! The price is awesome! My local Chevy dealer quoted me $1800 and my RV had to stay at their facility for about 15 days, as they needed to special order the actuator from GM. Jose gave me the same warranty as purchasing brand new from the dealer; 1 year/12,000 miles.

I recommend this JC guy for his honesty and great service! My rv's auto park brake actuator had a severe leak, I contacted Jc, I got my actuator back from Jc last Saturday, installed it over the weekend and I’m pleased to say; it works great! Super fast turnaround! I’m in Arizona, he’s in Florida and within a week I had my rebuilt actuator back. You have nothing to loose; if he can’t rebuild it he returns it back you!
Re: RV Chevy P30 or P32 Auto Park Brake Actuator REBUILT SHOP Jose Crespo 10-1-09
I CONTINUE TO GET REQUEST FOR INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO DISASEMBLE THE AUTO PARK BRAKE SYSTEM…

Disabling the auto park brake is very DANGEROUS as you will also be disabling your emergency brake; therefore we do not recommend it. Rather than disabling the auto park brake system we recommend you carry spare pressure switches regardless of how old the rv is and if the RV is over 7 years, we highly recommend servicing the actuator as soon as possible. If the rv is over 7 years is a matter of when not if the actuator will go bad on you.

Have a great day!

Does Jose Crespo still rebuild the GM autopark brake actuator?
I don't see any posts here after 2011. My actuator is seeping oil, and I would like to get it rebuilt. We have a '97 Pace Arrow, and are afraid to use it after reading all the stories about autopark system failure.

I highly recommend Jose Crespo to rebuild the actuator. I just had the actuator of my RV rebuilt and the unit works better than new. Jose was incredibly honest, helpful and knowledgeable. Before I even send the actuator to him, he gave me “FREE” troubleshooting info. Who does that nowadays?

I only had 2 options:

Option 1: Rebuild my actuator with Jose Crespo for $450.00 (free shipping) for a P/N R1PT40H actuator with 5 years warranty, and the turnaround was only 3 days.

Option 2: Purchase a new unit from GM at $1,586.94 (plus sales tax and shipping cost) with only 1 year warranty and delivery of 4-6 weeks.

If you need help contact Jose Crespo at (305) 218-8875 or via email at P30ACTUATOR@AOL.COM

Re: RV Chevy P30 or P32 Auto Park Brake Actuator REBUILT SHOP Alan 5-7-13
The function of the grey pressure switch is to turn the auto park light on the dash on when pressure drops to low. The function of the green pressure switch is to turn the pump on and off to build sufficient pressure to collapse the spring that applies the park brake. The problem with these pressure switches is the fact that they are very cheap. This leads to them failing regularly. I suggest if you want to fix the pressure switches permanently visit brazelsrv.com and get part # US21 lifetime warranty!

The actuator for my motorhome has been obsolete for several years; as my last source I contacted Mr. Jose Crespo that was able to get me a quote in just 2 days. The actuator was manufactured specifically for me. I did have to wait 2 weeks for the unit to be manufactured, but I’ve had my rig sitting for 2 years. I would have waited as long as it took as long as I was able to get the new actuator. WE ARE THE HAPPIEST CUSTOMER EVER!!!!! The brand new actuator arrived about a month back and the unit works excellent.

Thank you so much Mr. Crespo, if you are ever in Michigan, my wife and I would be honored to meet you in person.

I'm one happy customer! I received the actuator from Jose in just 2 days... there are just no words to describe how thankful we are and how highly we recommend Jose (p30actuator@aol.com). Our 4th of July trip is back on; woohoo! My wife and kids were very disappointed that our trip was going to have to be cancelled as the actuator was leaking fluid profusely and no local dealer knew how to fix it other than to order a new actuator that would take 8 – 12 weeks to get… I called Jose and overnight it the actuator, 2 days later I received and it works better than new. I would have gladly paid more, but he did not accept more than what he normally charges… very honest guy! You don’t find people like him anymore!

DON’T COMPROMISE YOUR SAFETY! Quick fixes could cost you your life, the life of your love ones and everyone else around you!

Don’t put yourself or your family on harms way, by taking the advice of people that are not trained with the auto park brake system.

The auto park brake system has a tension spring that is crucial in the proper function of the system, if the spring does not have the correct tension it will not hold the pressure and you could find yourself with a runaway vehicle. There’s more to rebuilding the auto park brake actuator than just replacing seals as some people like you to believe, otherwise the manufacture would have a repair kit and/or there would also be a lot more mechanics shop rebuilding the system.

The hydraulic system activates the spring, and the spring is what locks the brakes. If both are not up to par you will find yourself with no parking brake nor emergency brake.

The spring holds the brakes not the hydraulic system, overtime the spring may loose its tension and collapse, during the rebuilding process the springs has to be removed and carefully inspected and tested for proper tension.

The spring is compressed in the cylinder for years, this may collapse the spring overtime, and if not checked by a trained technician; how do you know that your spring has the proper tension? For this reason the manufacturer does not sell repair kits they sell only the complete unit. By the time your seals go bad the spring may also need to be addressed.

When it comes to your auto park brake actuator you only have 2 safe choices,

1. YOU REPLACE THE UNIT WITH A BRAND NEW ONE or
2. YOU GET IT REBUILT BY A TRAINED TECHNICIAN.
THIS IS DEFENETELY NOT A DO IT YOURSELF JOB!

I found this posting thread very helpful. I called Jose today from the other information posted on here regarding my parking brake problems. He was very helpfull and explained how to figure out wether my actuator was leaking, how to check the resorvoir to make sure it was full of automatic transmission fluid and proceeded to tell me most likely if there is no leak its a simple pressure switch and even told how to find that to take off and replace. I will check out what he said hopefully it s the switch that will make my day to find out instead of 2200 for a part it will only cost around 50 for a switch. He even said to call him anytime for advise or help hes glad to help even if hes not making money from it. Thanks Jose your awesome.
