Re: how to adjust kelsey electric trailer brakes #10958001 by Hal
Post New Message I've just picked up the same controller from a wrecker, to put in my daughter's pickup. I'm looking for confirmation on the wiring colours.

About adjusting: I've installed half-a-dozen, of different makes. Generally you need to adjust the control to take into account the weight you are pulling. In the case of a cargo trailer, this changes with every load, or when it is empty.

Instructions from other manufacturers are to hook up, drive (e.g. on a quiet street or a parking lot) at about 20 KPH (try 15 mph), and adjust the control knob so the wheels on the trailer just lock up and drag when you apply the foot brake in the truck. If they just drag at that speed, they won't at faster speeds.
