Post New Message It sounds more like a transfer case problem. I have heard them bang like this when the gears in the ransfer case are fourced by beeing wound up by turning or difrent sized tires while in 4wd. If its an auto 4X4 system it may not be releasing correct. Either way it a damaged unit if bangs like that and needs to visit a specilist for diagnoses. Good Luck
