Is the 2200 series allison transmission compatible with a 671 detroit engine? If not, what is the best option for this engine for over the road running for fuel economy and higher cruise speeds?

No,the 2200 series is fully electronic.A MT654 series works great if you can locate one,must have correct shift calibration for this engine.
