4l80e overdrive problem Todd 5-3-07
I have a 93 chevy 1 ton single rear wheel four wheel drive and it keeps on coming out of overdrive so i had it overhauled and happeneds its got a new valve body new spring kit all new solenoids switches new force motor its holding a good constant pressure in all gears and i have ran out of ideas
Re: 4l80e overdrive problem Charles 5-4-07
I had a 92 PU that would shift out of OD into third and not shift back. There is an input shaft speed sensor and an output shaft speed sensor that measures slippage, and if too much, then it "saves" the tranny by selecting a lower gear. Since you've had the tranny redone, it might be they didn't change those two sensors and one is breaking down, wiring continuity to the sensors is bad, or failure of a new part. The Tranny in the motorhome I asked about here was fine--COIL breakdown caused a "jerk" under load!!!LOL! Good luck!!
Re: 4l80e overdrive problem been there 5-31-07
Had same problem. went through five trannies and three good mechanics. finally put a new computer in truck and drove off. the computer should take care of all of the gliches. i figured it couldn't be the tranny if that many did the same thing..hope this helps.

been there in texas
