I just purchesed a 1996 Winnebago 37ft MH with 37,000 miles. While test driving it, it seemed to slip in reverse, but I was told it's normal for a "stall" speed in reverse, for safety ( as not to accelerate too quickly ) Seemed like BS but I've never owned a MH before. Anyway, I bought it, and it all seems good, except, but I'm beginning to think my original suspicions were right.
When I place it in reverse, I feel nothing... not like when I put it in drive, where the engine drops RPM etc... I let my foot off the brake, without any throttle, and it doesn't creep at all. So, I begin to back up, the engine revs to 2000 - 2300 with barely any movement at all, it does move, but throttle response is non existant. Once it begins to roll, it feels better. Is this normal, or did I get "the deal of a lifetime" ?
Rich...
PS the fluid is nice and clean ( almost too clean, maybe a recent change... )
Yep you got the saleman solution!!
The best deal you can get on a E4OD is ford reman at the dealer, 3 years warranty with all the upgrade around 1400. 1500. VS a after market shop rebuilt will go 1300 on the cheap side & may still act after you put it in.
Then you got the oil, a new cooler, & labor, I would shop for a mobil mechanic that can put it in, so you got the option to choose the supplyer, otherwise you will get the cheapest they can find.
good luck wrench
I have a 96 f450 powerstroke and my trans has started to not upshift out of low gear until I hit 3000 rpm. It works fine after it shifts out of low. When the trans is cold it shifts fine. I have changed the fluid and filter including the torque converter fluid. Any sugestions?
