Engine / trans conversion by steve
Post New Message I have a 99 Ranger 4x4, 3.0 v6 with 5 speed o/d,ext. cab, with the off road package. I took it back to the dealer 3 times in the first two years complaining about its lack of power and HORRIBLE gas mileage, only to be told each time that their was nothing wrong with it. It always had a problem with the emergency brake sticking on also. After this 2 year period, I had the brakes fail on a Sunday and had to take it to an independent mech., they found that the e brake had indeed been ON the entire time and it had totally trashed the entire assembly. Cost me $400.00 out of my pocket, but it had more power and better gas milage after that. Now, out of warranty and with only 62,000 miles the engine has trashed itself and I find myself facing replacing it on my own $$s also. I am NOT putting a 3.0 back in it, and to change to a 4.0 requires the same changes as to a 5.0 v8, so does anybody know of where I can locate the required adapter to install a 5.0 w t-5 out of a Mustang GT??
