2001 ranger. The transmission at times will will slam into second gear. If I turn of the engine the transmission will reset it self and will shift fine. Fluid is not low, reverse is ok.at all times! What could be the problem?
I have a 2000 Ranger w/ 3.0 engine and Auto Trans. Yesterday, I had to use the 4 X 4 LOW position for literally 10 feet. When I repositioned it to 2 wheel drive, it remained in 4 X 4 LOW. I am hoping it is just the solenoid at the transfer case but was wondering if any of you had a similar problem. My truck has about 58K miles on it.
FYI., I too am having the hard shift symptoms but have had 2 Rangers from 1994 through 2000 and they all shifted like that.
I own a 2000 Ford Ranger. I have been having problems with my four wheel drive. When I use it, it jerks really hard, and it makes a rattling sound. A few days ago, I went to drive my truck, and the truck now only goes in reverse, it will not drive forward. I am wondering if this is a transmission problem or if it can be something else. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
I have a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 5 speed pickup truck. Yesterday without any warning I could not change into certain gears and them I couldn't get it out of gear. I only ran it a small distance to our mechanic that feels its a transmission problem. I need to find a transmission specialist. Can you offer any advise.
I have a 2000 Ranger. About 1 month ago it started shifting hard ( break a u-joint Hard )now my overdrive is on and want go off untill I turn off the engine, and restart. I went to Ford dealer and the service Mgr. said there was no recall on it. This is a very low milage truck 28,000 mi. Mgr. said they can put it on computer for test $130.00. I guess this is my only option. What did you guys do?
We are not getting trans fluid flowing into the lines. the pump is good, only 40000 miles on trans, it won't go into reverse any forward gears. Any help would be great. I would like to know if this trans model #1L52-7000-carm serial# 01-218-01754-72w has an electric pump or mechanical?
I,m having trans' problems with a 2000 Ranger 4x4 with 4.0 engine. It shifts hard and is delayed from 1st to 2nd,engine braking in 1st is hit and miss and it occassionally stays in high gear when I stop and pull out again. Any help would greatly appreciated.
I have a 2001 ranger 2wd 3 liter 6cyl and have had the same problem with it slamming into second gear after the tac nears 4000 rpms. i have a dealer warranty on it so they put a rebuilt transmission in it and it still shifts hard. I'm completely lost on what to do next!
I just had my transmission fluid flushed and changed. Now a problem started a month later. On left turns "only" my truck will slip out of gear and rev in neutral and I hold the gas down til it shift itslef back in but very hard. V6 4.0L 170,000 miles
I have a 1991 Frod Ranger 4x4 stx. It had auto. hubs in the front. I changed them out with Warn lock in hubs. Used the four wheel drive 2 times and worked fine. One week later I tried to use it but would not work. The trans. is engauging fine, because the front drive shaft in turning but not spinning the wheels. I jacked up the front and locked in the hubs and turned the front drive shaft and the tires were spining with them in the air. But wont do any good on dirt. Anybody know what might be the problem??
I have a 200 ranger that i have beeen having 4x4 isues with since not long after i bought it. i have replaced the transfercase shift motor 4 times now and it fixes the problem for a short time then it stops again. does anyone have any ideas?????
I also have a 2000 Ford Ranger, it is a six cyliner 2wheel drive, it has 60,000 miles on it when what i thought was hard shifting started happening. I figured I'd give myself a brake from doing jobs like this one time, so i just took it to a local mechanic. He told me id need a new transmission, so i went and got one with 40,000 on it for $500, then- when i went to another shop to have it put in they told me it had something to do with my ball joints/tires, so now I have an extra transmission sitting in my garage for no reason that I need to get rid of. Just some advice, get a few opinions before you go out and buying a tranny. Feel free to e-mail me at schil32@yahoo.com
2001 ranger 4x4 was backing up and it popped out of reverse and now I can't back up. Forward works fine. Could this be electrical or is the transmission shot?
Well i see thats this overdive light flashing and banging into second gear is common. i can also relate! Usually the light flashes on colder days and the same with my tranny banging into second gear....almost like she delays at the top of the first gear then shifts hard into second. with 80,000kms on the ranger i had warrenty replace a govenor seal. But the problem with the light and shifting never went away. i'm probably just gone put a 302 in along with a nice beefy teansmission..lol.
I have a 2008 Ford Ranger Sport 4X4. This vechile has less than 5000 km and has had a delayed reaction when going into reverse. When it final decides to engage it slams so hard the whole truck shakes. I have had it to the dealers three times and they say that this is normal.Has anyone else experienced this problem.
I have the same problem as some of you. 2001 Ranger 4x4 staying in first gear for too long and occassionally slamming into second. Then O/D light starts flashing until I restart truck. My fluid level was way too high. I had the fluid drained to proper level but still doing the same thing. I'm open to suggestions
I had something like that happen to my 2001 Ranger XLT 4wd as well along the hwy
in white out conditions this past weekend.
My truck still goes forward, although i had to stop the"jerking" by pulling into a gas station and driving backward for about 1/2 mile - 800m or so. Feel free to e-mail me on this further.
