I have recently bought a 1993 chevy 1500 cheyenne v8 5.7 liter truck with a shift kit in it.Is it normal for it to slam into second gear to the point it will shirp the rear wheels?IT also does it when shifting into drive,but not reverse.thanks

That depends... there are many different types of Shift kits.. some of them are for race/drag application and they slam hard throug the gears.. anyway if it does not slam as hard shifting from second to third it may be something wrong in the transmission (check fluids clutches etc)
